ORAL COMMUNICATIONS: Authors who wish their abstract to be considered for oral presentation in the ISC2026 program should submit it by February 18, EXTENDED TO MARCH 4, 2026, through the Symposium’s platform. Notification of decisions will be sent from March 6 to March 20, 2026. Early bird registration runs until March 15 March 29, 2026.

TRAVEL AWARDS: The International Carotenoid Society will award scholarships to attend the Symposium to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers within five years of graduation who have registered and submitted their abstracts by March 15, 2026. Travel Award amounts will be determined by the number of qualified abstracts received by the deadline and the distance of travel required to attend in Palma.

We are pleased to welcome you to the 20th International Symposium on Carotenoids (ISC2026), to be held at Hotel Victoria Gran Melia Convention Center, Palma, Spain, from 14 June (Sun) to 19 June (Fri), 2026.

The symposium is affiliated with the International Carotenoid Society (ICS) and is open to the public and the scientific community worldwide.

We are delighted that this prestigious meeting, typically held every three years since 1966, is now taking place for the first time in Southern Europe. The Mediterranean basin has served as a meeting point for centuries, recognized for its rich history, diverse cultures, and vibrant exchanges. It provides a unique backdrop for our conference.

The scientific program is taking shape with the confirmation of well-recognized plenary and invited speakers covering cutting-edge developments in Carotenoid Science and Technology across multiple facets—from chemistry, genetics, biosynthesis, and metabolism in plants and animals to functions and applications in nutrition and health, food science, and industry. Their participation, together with the engagement and support of leading companies active in carotenoid research and applications, ensures a high scientific standard and broad, integrative coverage of the key topics in our field.

At the same time, this meeting is meant to be shaped by its community. We therefore look forward to receiving your scientific contributions, which will play a central role in completing a strong, balanced, and attractive program. The 13th International Conference and Workshop on Lobster Biology and Management (ICWL) 2026 will be held at the Centre Cultural Cap Vermell of Cala Ratjada, Mallorca, Spain from the 11 – 16 October 2026.

The 2026 Conference is returning to Europe, and this edition celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first one held in western Australia. We are proud to host the ICWL in the Mediterranean, a cradle of cultures and the sea that was the origin of the scientific research on lobsters.

The theme for the 2026 Conference is “Toward the sustainable conservation of large decapods”. Conservation is one of the main objectives today in the oceans. Globally, the Sustainable Development Goals pay special attention to the marine environment, and UNESCO has declared this decade the 'Decade of the Oceans'. This conference offers a great opportunity for researchers and managers to share and find solutions for work on the conservation of large decapods in Europe and beyond.

This year’s conference continues to focus on all types of lobsters and includes a special session dedicated to the blue crab (Callinectes sapidus). This species is considered an alien species in the Mediterranean and it is the focus of a great deal of research in Europe and elsewhere.

This ICWL is hosted by “Centre Oceanogràfic de les Illes Balears” of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography that was created in 1914.

The Centre Oceanogràfic de les Balears (COB) is one of the nine coastal centres of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), a National Centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) under the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, dedicated exclusively to marine research. CSIC is the largest national research institution with up to 17000 members.

The IEO's facilities have extensive geographical coverage, with a headquarters, nine coastal oceanographic centres, five experimental aquaculture facilities, twelve tide gauge stations, a satellite image receiving station, and a fleet of four oceanographic vessels of varying lengths, as well as smaller boats.

The IEO is dedicated to marine science research, particularly in the areas of scientific knowledge of the oceans, the sustainability of the marine environment, and its living resources. Its research is designed to support its advisory role and provide concrete answers to public administrations regarding the sea, its rational use, and its protection. In this capacity, the IEO serves as the research and advisory body for the Government's fisheries policy and represents it before international oceanographic organizations and commissions.

Currently, the COB has a staff of over 120 people, including researchers, technicians, administrative personnel, trainees, and students. Its research activity focuses on the multidisciplinary study of the marine environment, its ecosystems, and living resources. This conference is organized by the RESMARIEO of COB. In 1997 the Marine Reserves Research Group at IEO (RESMARIEO) was created by Dra Raquel Goñi, primarily studying of the benefits of Marine Protected Areas and the improvement of knowledge on the biology, ecology and fisheries of the European spiny lobster. The team is still working on the same topics and have developed the longest time series of the population of spiny lobsters in the Mediterranean.
 

The Balearic Islands Institute for Agri-Food and Fisheries Research and Training (IRFAP) is a public entity of the Government of the Balearic Islands dedicated to advancing knowledge through research, innovation, training, and knowledge transfer in agriculture, fisheries, marine resources, and food systems. Within this framework, IRFAP plays a key role in promoting sustainable management and scientific understanding of marine ecosystems in the Mediterranean.

A cornerstone of this effort is the IRFAP LIMIA (Marine Research and Aquaculture Laboratory), originally established in 1982, which represents a long-standing commitment to marine research in the Balearic Islands. Located in Port d’Andratx (Mallorca), and integrated into IRFAP since 2022, LIMIA is currently the only authorized marine research center for animal experimentation in the region. This unique status makes it an essential infrastructure for both fundamental and applied research on marine species, aquaculture, conservation, and animal welfare. Its privileged coastal location allows direct access to open-flow seawater systems, enabling experimental work under highly realistic environmental conditions.

IRFAP LIMIA offers specialized facilities for the breeding, maintenance, and experimental study of marine organisms, alongside advanced laboratories for histology and molecular biology. In addition, its marine platforms and aquaculture units provide a distinctive capacity to conduct research under real sea conditions and to scale technological developments towards applied and industrial contexts.

The center is recognized as an Associated R&D Unit of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and maintains strong collaborations with leading scientific institutions, including IMEDEA, IEO-CSIC, SOCIB, IRTA, the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), INAGEA, and COFIB. These partnerships enhance interdisciplinary research and contribute to high-impact scientific outputs published in leading international journals.

IRFAP LIMIA has also played a pioneering role in lobster research in the Balearic Islands. Notably, early work on lobster tagging and captive rearing was conducted at the facility in collaboration with Dr. Goñi, Dr. Mallol and Dr. Díaz and. This collaboration remains especially relevant today with the colleagues of Oceanographic Center of Balearic Islands. This conference is a proof that the collaboration remain close and represents a key scientific and institutional link between IRFAP LIMIA and the broader research community involved in this event.

As co-organizers of this congress, IRFAP and IRFAP LIMIA contribute a unique combination of long-term scientific expertise, specialized infrastructure, and strong collaborative networks. Their trajectory underscores the importance of integrating research, innovation, and knowledge transfer to advance the conservation and sustainable management of lobster populations and marine ecosystems.

Resum: 
Over the past decade, we have witnessed the dawn of a new era in Gravitational Wave astronomy. The scientific community is developing next-generation detectors aimed at probing sources across the full gravitational wave spectrum. In this talk, I will present the exciting science anticipated from the upcoming LISA mission and outline the ongoing efforts to develop the data analysis frameworks needed to unlock the mission's full scientific potential. I will focus on the challenges of searching for stochastic Gravitational Wave signals of both cosmological and astrophysical origin.

Les candidatures presentades poden ser individuals o en grups de 5 persones com a màxim, i cada participant pot presentar tots els projectes propis que desitgi; en cap cas poden ser de tercers. Es podran presentar grups mixtos: membres de la UIB (alumnes i tutors) juntament amb el personal sanitari de l’IB-Salut. En aquests grups mixtos també hi podran participar alumnes i tutors de Formació Professional.
