Women for Quantum

Progress in science must result not only in more profound and interdisciplinary knowledge, discovery, and technological breakthroughs, but also in major improvements in inclusion and diversity. Still, valuing gender diversity in many disciplines, including Physics, remains an open challenge.  Despite several initiatives being in place to promote STEM among young girls, and programs across Europe addressing the specific needs of female physics students and junior scientists, including mentoring and career development, the percentage of women physicists becomes smaller at every career stage. It is still unclear, how best to foster the promotion of women to senior and top positions, both in academia and industry. Women often experience uncomfortable working environments. Why does this happen? How can we change it?

The meeting "Woman for Quantum" will unite senior women quantum physicists to share their professional experience as well as the results of their experimental and theoretical research in AMO physics and quantum information science. We aim to assess the current situation of women in quantum, discuss strategies and solutions, and identify the first steps toward implementing real change.

The meeting will start on May 6 in the evening and end with lunch on May 9.

 

Registration

The registration fee (550 €) includes:

• Accommodation and breakfast of the Alua Gran Camp de Mar during the event
• Meals
• Conference space

Transportation to venue from airport

You will have to take a taxi drive of 30 minutes from the airport to the Alua Gran Camp de Mar (the cost of this can be aprox 55€ - 65€ euros and taxis accept credit cards).
